July 10
Departed Maryland on Sunday, July 10th for Denver, CO with the bike in tow. My first day on the road I was able to get 1030 miles under my belt and ended the day in Columbia, MO. Interstate 64 was so quiet, that I felt the urge to continue past my 600 mile goal for the day, as well as gaining an hour for central time. Also wanted to get through St. Louis so as not to have to deal with the Monday morning rush hour. Cruising through St. Louis at 9:20 p.m. my outside temperature gauge showed 93 degrees... One hot night in St. Louie.

With some overnight rest it was back on the road... an easy ride day with so many miles down the day before. Made my stay in Goodland, Kansas leaving 200 miles for my final day.
July 12
Arrived in Longmont, CO. That morning I made arrangements for leaving my truck and trailer in an enclosed storage facility. Beacon Storage. This place is first class. Owner Bernie set me up with a 15X50 RV garage for a month...thus keeping my goods out of the Colorado hail storms.
July 13
Took some time and traveled up to the Boulder mountains. Checked out Boulder Falls, Hwy 119, 72 and 7. All with nice views around every turn.
July 14
Tom and Nancy arrived around noon today. Dan and Cheryl made it in last night. Both of them shipped their bikes to Denver. Dan and Cheryl after the next two weeks with us plan on riding their bike back to Palm Beach Gardens...whew!
| Nancy and Tom's limo ride to Mile High Harley Davidson to pick up their bike. |
On the way to the airport this morning, Nancy informed Tom she had left her leather jacket at the house...one way to get some new threads.
| Getting the jacket. |
WHAT A DISCOVERY I MADE THIS MORNING!!! Since July 1937, I believe, this lady has been missing... All sorts of theories about what happened, where she may have ended up, but all along she has been right under our noses. Amazing what facial cremes can do to preserve youth. Well...here she is. Doing the traffic report in Denver, CO.
Tomorrow Official Departure for 2 weeks on the scooters.
